It goes, I think, beyond social networking or online marketing, because of the level of direct outreach I’m doing with online media sites, bloggers, etc. - along with managing social networking accounts, writing content, consulting on best practices for blogging and social networking integration. It’s a great opportunity to use not only my technical skills and Web-world experience, but also draw upon my marketing experience and communications skills.

As the project continues, I will develop a case study.

The problem for me is that I’ve kept Facebook as my “off-the-clock” social networking, and use Twitter, LinkedIn, et al., as my professional social networking. So, if by keeping up on the social media “scene,” I have to use my Facebook identity professionally, I’m now concerned about the mixing of my business online presence with my personal online presence.

I never looked at my Facebook identity from the perspective of my clients, potential clients, and professional associates. The only thing that comes to mind is Kramer’s remark about “worlds colliding.”

DIY Blogging Service Packages

The deliverable for all these services is a good-looking Web site or blog that the client would then setup on a Web hosting service, and then maintain the site themselves - create & edit content, administer the site settings, etc. See below for Web hosting, and for copy writing/editing services.

Styling Package

Starts at $250.00
This is where I take an existing blog or site design, and customizes the colors and other styling details, to visually connect the site to a personal or company look-and-feel. This is the most cost-effective way to have a blog design that is not generic-looking. Design, graphics, and photography is not included in this package, nor is any scripting or PHP development labor.

Development Package

Starts at $500.00
This offers everything as the Styling Package, but includes custom PHP, jQuery, JavaScript, & MySQL development. This is for clients who want to customize an existing site theme with new or modified functionality, add in 3rd party applications, etc. Design, graphics, and photography is not included.

Design & Development Package

Starts at $1,000.00
This is for clients wishing a completely original theme, functions developed specifically for them, and an online presence that is completely branded.

I will consult with the client to determine needs, bring in design and graphics talent to create an original theme for the site, and develop from-scratch the engineering behind the site.

Photography is not included, but available as an additional service.

Blogging, Social Networking, and Copy Services

$35 - $55 per hour
Blogging and social networking can take a lot of time and energy. For some businesses, they need to have a Web presence, need to connect with customers or potential customers online, but lack the workforce to do that successfully. I have the solution.

I can take over the content management of a blog or Web site, writing effective and compelling copy on the client’s behalf. This is a private-label service, with readers unaware that the content is not from an internal source.

In addition, I can operate the client’s social networking accounts, connecting with the audience, representing & promoting the business through these communication channels - akin to “online public relations.”

I will develop with clients a work agreement that is cost-effective and provides enough labor to make regular and engaging content.

I also incorporated a jQuery-powered header and navigation area, that not only directs people to the major sections from the home page downwards, but provides section identification and breadcrumb navigation for the category and single-post levels.

Also developed was a sidebar area for capturing WordPress registrations without going to the actual registration input page.

The client needed a good-looking theme that focused on written content. They also wanted “magazine-style” imagery for drawing attention to the main and section features. We accomplished that by using both tabbed features on the home page that teases content out with an attached image or video clip, as we as a highly-visual rotating gallery of feature article images on select sections.
